Little Boys

Joshua continues to amaze me with his curiosity and how he manages to figure things out..... Here's a video of him - I caught him hiding in the kitchen cupboard (which has baby locks on them!)

Joshie's Room

We are in the process of transitioning Joshie from his room (the froggy-tales nursery) to the guest room so that Jenna can move out of our room and into the nursery. As of right now, there's just the letters that I painted on his new room door. We are going to go with a transportation theme since he likes cars and trucks so much. Here's a sample of what his theme will look likeSince Joshie's nursery room theme was froggy tales it is painted green and white with a verse on the wall. I wanted to go with pink and brown butterfly decor for Jenna, but we'd have to repaint and all that. So, I decided that we're going to go with the pink and green ladybug theme. It works and its cute too. Here's what her room theme will sorta look like. You have to imagine green wallls, not purple.

We hope to start switching the kids here in the next two months...I'll post pics and all that later when it really happens!!

Go baby, go!

My little girl is growing so fast! She is having tummy time right now and is on the floor trying to crawl around. :) Can't believe she is already trying this. Well, I can since Joshie was crawling all over the house by this age, and Jenna is just starting out. I've gotten used to my baby girl being a baby for a longer period of time. It's kinda nice to just have her lie on the floor and talk away to her brother, or to have her just sit and play with me without having to worry about all the places she could be getting into. I didn't really have this experience with Joshua. She's becomming so much fun and her little personalilty is really starting to shine through. It's amazing how Joshie and her are so alike - yet so different!! Here's a video of her playing on the floor trying to learn to crawl, and then finding the camera:

Fun at the park

Today our church had a Crawfish Boil....for all our friends and family back home in Cali - that when everyone gets together and they fry these mini-lobster-like things called rawfish. Its really big out here and they fry them in cajun stuff. I think its because we are so close to the Louisianna border and its apparently a southern thing. Anyways, we had this event at the neighborhood park (unfortunately its not our neighborhood - yet). Joshie had a blast going down the slides. At first he was a little scared, so I held his hand down the little slides. Then, since Jenna was in her little sling, I walked up to the "big" slides at the top of the park and went down a couple times the three of us. I'd guess that these slides are about 15 ft. high. Our friends, the Hamners, were also there and their youngest son, Noah, is Joshie's age (6 weeks older), so then the two of them went down together. Both of them climbed all the way up there (with help from Noah's maw-maw). I am so thankful that Joshie has a buddy that is his age to grow up with. Here's a few pictures and a video of the day. Noah was sliding down too fast for me to snap a picture of him!! I'll have to get him in next time.

And here's a video of them:

Bath Time fun

Bath time is a time of splashing and having fun in our house. Joshua gets so excited to take a bath. He kicks his legs and says "bath" a million times over. I have to admit, bathing two kiddos this young had its challenges, but I've got a routine down. Joshie "helps" give Jenna a bath in her baby tub, and then Jenna sits in her Bumbo seat while Joshie takes his bath. She loves to intereact with her brother. I think they will be very close friends. Don't ya love Jenna's hair in the above picture. I didn't do anything to it - it just dried that way! Punk rocker baby! Here's a little video of Joshie and his bath time fun:

Sacked Out

These pictures sure describe our week this week - tiring. We have been running around so much that I wish we could all take a nice long nap. Let's see - we met with a lady to help us become "financially free" which was encouraging as well as depressing. We are tightening our budget to become 100% debt free within the next 5 years. If we would have left our budget the way we had it - it would take us to the year 2062!! Yikes! A few years without the luxury of baseball games, eating out, etc. is do-able. Especially since it pays off tremendously in the long run. Along with that, we've been working on the yards making them look better, and now our mission is the inside of the house - which is no easy task with a toddler-tornado in the house! But i know that we can do it and it will be awesome. School is almost over for me, so I am looking forward to the summer to spend with the kiddos and doing some tutoring. I am hoping my baby wreaths side business takes off so that I don't have to tutor(there's a link on the side!), but only time will tell with that one. Everything's such a blur right now, I wish we could just sit outside on the porch, kids in tow and watch the world around us. Hard to believe that Joshie will be 2 this year....where has the time gone?

Exersaucers

The funniest thing about having two kids so close in age is that sometimes Josie thinks he's a litt;e baby too. Take, for example, the exersaucer. This was one of his favorite toys when until he was almost 1. Now that Jenna plays in it, he thinks that he too can fit in it!! Doesn't he look ginormous compared to Jenna?

Applesauce

Today was Jenna's first experience with baby food. She's been on rice cereal for about 2 weeks now for her reflux (helps keep the milk down), and so the ped. gave us the okay to start stage 1 fruits. Joshua loved applesauce and sweet potatoes. Figures that Jenna didn't really care for the applesauce. Although its a whole explosion of flavor for her and probably a bit overwhelming. She sure did make some funny faces though!! Here's a quick movie of her first experience:

Fun times lie ahead with this little girl!

4 Months...

Miss Jenna is now 4 months old. Its hard to believe that she's growing so fast. Seems like yesterday she was born. Here are some new facts about Jenna:
  • 12.5 pounds
  • 26.25 inches long
  • rolls over both ways
  • supported sitter
  • loves rice cereal and her big brother
  • likes to "talk" to people

Who knows what will be next for this little one!

Easter - Part II

Jaime, Jason, Jenna and Joshua

This year for Easter it was really quite fun. Joshua was a little older to partake in the "fun" stuff and we got to hang out with our church family as well as my family. I have to say that this was the first holiday that I didn't miss "home". I think its because as the kids get older, we boecome more involve with stuff and there's really no time to miss it! Anyways, here's how our wonderful Resurection Day Celebration went:

We started out the day by going to church as always. Our little church has an annual egg hunt in which the kids hunt plastic candy-filled eggs. This year Joshua went with Daddy (Jason) to go look for eggs. At first he thought they were bright "balls" and wanted to throw them. But with a little help from daddy he knew what to do with them. It wasn't long before his basket was overflowing! He's too young for the candy, but mommy can take care of that part. He had so much fun that he hides the empty eggs around the house now and looks for them and gets so excited when he finds them!

Jenna didn't really "do" much this year for Easter as she was only 3 1/2 months old. But she did wear her little pink bunny outfit. She had fun just sitting in mommy's arms watching her big brother. I think she will have a great time next year with Joshie looking for the eggs.

After church, we drove up to my parent's house on Lake Conroe. It was awesome this year because Jessica and her little family (Shon and baby Elisha) were there along with Vanessa and her fiancee and Sherrie's brother, Monty, and his family. We had over 20 people! There were some newbies there also from their church and all the girls love playing with Joshie. Of course he was a little flirt too. We had lots of food and fun and of course you can't forget the confetti eggs! Poor Joshie got nailed by his aunties and uncles with confetti. At first it kinda scared him, but then he got used to the idea. Look out for him next year - he'll be looking for you!
