Conversations with Josh

Joshua is really starting to have some imaginative conversations, so I thought I would share some of the conversations I've had with him that make me smile and laugh, thanking God that I am his momma and there to share in this time with him....

Tuesday, 23 June 2009

Joshie and I were lying on the floor next to his "big boy bed" in my school work room playing race cars when the following conversation took place:

Me: "Josh, don't move the boards under the bed please"

J: looks at me and moves it anyways

Me: "Joshie....what did mommy tell you? If you play with those boards baby you will break your bed. I don't want it to fall on you and hurt you"

J: in a sad tone"yeah - I break my bed. My bed fall on Joshie and break him. Then you have to get a new Joshie at the store."

Me: "Baby, I can't get a new Joshie. You're the only one there is"

J: "Only one Joshie. Can't break him....yeah....my bed fall on my head and break Joshie. Only one Joshie."

Then he crawls in my lap and just wants to be cuddled because he knows there's only one Joshie. He can't be replaced. :)

One of the reasons why I love my job. :)

Hard Life

It must be hard being a baby...I set Julianna down, turned around and here's what she was doing:

Busy Weekend

Yet another busy weekend we can check off. I remember when I actually used to think that summer was boring! I couldn't wait until school started back up when I was in school, and when I was between school and kids (that brief 2 years), it seemed to just drag on.....

Now it seems like every weekend is jammed packed with stuff to do - pool parties, birthday parties, baby showers, you name it! And of course, this weekend was no different. Friday night was my sister Jessica's baby shower. She is having her second child, another boy, next month. She is the one that is about ready to pop in the above picture. Here are some pictures from the night:

watching "Nemo" while waiting to leave...

isn't this so cute?? Walking out to the car from dinner

Where there's food - there's Jenna....

I think Jenna's trying to show Julianna how to crawl

Jacob, Letty and Megan hanging out

The "men": Dad, Jason, Shon and Elisha

The boys got a taste of what it's like being pregnant. They had to try and paint their toenails while having a pillowcase stuffed with shoes as their "baby"

Sherrie made the awesome "jungle cake"

The diaper wreath I made Jessica

Today we celebrated Father's Day up at my parent's house on Lake Conroe. Their pool is awesome since it overlooks the lake. I am trying to get Josh used to his water wings before we leave for California on Friday...
Joshie is so independant now and such a "big boy". He swam with water wings all by himself and of course was saying the whole time - "no, I do it.." He even ventured to jump off the side of the pool by himself. I can't believe how little he needs me now. Makes me sad and glad all at the same time. I am so proud of my "little fishy".

Pictures

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE pictures and scrapbooking. I have been working on being a little more "crafty" in the house and making it look like some of those homes you see on TV. I really like getting things looking nice, and I have half of the wal mural complete. Of course we still need to paint and finish the other side, but I think I finally know what it will look like! I know that Jason and I will have at most 4 kids, so I figured to make things look semetrical Josh and Jenna can have half the mural, and Julianna can have the other half. If we do ever have one more, then Julianna and the other kid can have the other half. If we end up only having 3 kids, then Julianna's wall will also be a "famiily" side. Here's some pictures of what it looks like so far. Imagine a light brownish-neutral tone on the wall. Like a grey-brown color....

Siblings

This is why I love my full-time, never-ending, sometimes-exhausting, fun-loving job of being a mommy of three:

Stitch

If you have ever seen the movie "Lilo and Stitch", then you know that Stitch was dubbed "Experiment 6-2-6" because he was created to seek and destroy. It just so happens to also be Jenna's nickname. :)

We went to the Disney store a while ago and they had an amazing sale, so I let each kid pick out a stuffed animal. Of course Joshie wanted Tigger, but since he has three at home, he thankfully changed his mind to Nemo. Jenna had no trouble whatsoever picking out Stitch. Pretty amazing since they haven't seen the movie "Lilo and Stitch" yet and have no idea what Stitch looks like! The picture at the top is her Stitch.

Why do we call her Stitch?? Here are a few pictures of what can happen when it's quiet and Jenna is no where to be found:

Ginger's water all over the floor
On top of my work table - she closed my laptop and has a sharpie in her hand

Playing with their computer

And most recently....
She somehow comendeered my cell phone when we were playing outside and had it in the pool with her!!

Life is always an adventure with her, and I've learned to stay at least one step ahead at all times. Its amazing the things that you think they can't reach or get into, but they manage to rearrange furniture to get it! They certainly have creative little minds!

Cell Phones

Jason gave Joshua his old Nextel work phone so that he would stop trying to take our phones and use them. Jenna also has an old cell phone of her own now too. It's so cute because you can hear him "talking" to people all the time on the phone and making up these elaborate conversations. He calls his grandma honey (my mom) and papa joe a lot to tell them to come and eat pancakes or ride his bike. Sometimes he calls Jason at work to ask to play Wii... It cracks me up!

Who knew that such a little boy would know how to operate a cell phone and carry on an imaginative conversation! I can't even imagine what his kids will be doing at 2 years old!

"Big Trouble"

I think I've seen it all as a parent....well, I KNOW that I haven't, but I seriously don't know what can top this. Its comical in retrospect, but I pray it NEVER happens again, and I am thankful that Julianna is little enough to have done it today too.....

The Scenario:The three kiddos were napping upstairs

The Culprits:
Culprit #1: Joshie:

Culprit #2: Jenna-girl:

The Victim:the carpet, crib, crib sheets, stuffed animals, Tigger, and Joshie's door
How it went down:Joshie was supposed to be taking a nap in his room. He'd been asleep for about two hours when I heard a banging on his door. He is really into baseball, so I thought he might have found a baseball plush or something that he was throwing in there against his bedroom door. I waited a few minutes and it stopped.
"He must have fallen back asleep" I thought to myself
About 10 minutes later I heard little feet running around upstairs. Oh, he's up. I guess I'll go up and get him and Jenna. As I reached the top of the stairs, the distinct smell of "poo-poo" hit me. Time to change his nite-nite diaper. I opened the door to find......
Joshie's bed moved to the other side of the room, his clothes strewn about the floor, and ... a ball of poop sitting on the floor accompanied by streaks of it on the carpet!
To my amazement my dear, sweet son then decides to pick the poop up!
I yelled out - "NO! Don't pick that up!"
He respods with "Yucky, baseball poo-poo"
Baseball poo-poo???
Yep - behind his door were marks of where he had thrown it against the door playing "baseball"...... ew.
That was the noise I had heard earlier....great....and we had just given the steam cleaner to my sister so she could steam clean for her baby shower. Now Jason has to drive over there tonight so we can steam clean his room so that he can sleep in a "smell-good" room and not have to smell that yucky smell...
But that's not all!!!
I heard Jenna wake up in the midst of putting Joshies clothes back in his dresser (half of which now have to be re-washed since he peed on them!), so we went to get Jenna out of her crib. I had put her to bed in just a diaper since it was kinda warm and she never takes off her diaper anyways.
Ha! I was wrong! I walked in to her room to find a naked little girl who had also gone #2, and had it ALL over the crib, the sheets, the stuffed animals she sleeps with, her blankets, and yes - even her body....double ew.So, needless to say it was bath time. And I Lysoled the crib...I think I am no longer caught up on laundry.....Praise God that Julianna doesn't do that....yet

The Many Faces of Julianna

As Julianna gets a little older, each day I see more and more of her personality come out. She has a good mix of both the kids so far, but is in a league of her own when it comes to making faces. She is so expressive and silly!! Here are "The many faces of Julianna"...

Walk

Having 3 kids can prove you need to be an "outside the box thinker". You only have two arms, and so you have to get creative when doing things with them....or going on a walk around the block....

We have a double stroller, which has been a life saver since Jenna was born. Joshie has a tricycle, and so the first time we tried to go walking, I let him ride his bike and I put the girls in the stroller....that didn't work! I ended up pulling the stroller and pushing Joshie because he doesn't quite have the hang of moving the pedals. This time I got smarter!! Now when I want to walk, I put the baby in her little sling and I put the big kids in the stroller. I can even take Ginger too.......
Now if only I can figure out how to take them all in the bike carrier......I think that one will have to wait until everyone is a little older....

Silly Kids...

One of the best perks of being a parent to more than one toddler is the silliness that they bring...

For Example: Joshua's newest thing is to tell stories. He loves to read books and make up a story that goes along with the pictures. Well, the other day he was supposed to be napping....I went up to check on him and of course he wasn't sleeping. So I told him to talk to Jesus and He would help him fall asleep. I went back up some time later and he was still awake...the following conversation took place:
"Did you talk to Jesus?"
"Yes...him come up the stairs to Joshie's room"
"Oh, I see. Did he tell you to go to sleep?"
"Um....yes"
"And did you listen to Jesus?"
"No. I told him He needed to take a nap"

The video below shows Jenna pushing her little sister around in the Bumbo seat in the kitchen

And then you have Josh playing catch with Jenna...

18-2

Yesterday was Jenna's 18 month birthday, AND Julianna's 2 month birthday. Hard to believe how fast time really does fly by. I can't believe that my little ones aren't that little anymore...I can't believe I have 3 kids either! Seems like yesterday that I was playing softball in high school. Each year has been better than the last, and I have enjoyed seeing my kids' personalities grow and develop over the past couple of years.

Jenna:
  • She has two teeth you can see (top two), with 4 more that are poking through for a total of 6 known teeth!!!
  • LOVES baseball and any type of sport
  • She's our "wild one" - no fear, and instigator
  • Enjoys "reading" books and loves to sit in your lap to read
  • Facinated by Julianna and tries to help out, but usually ends up "smashing" the baby
  • Can say a lot of words now and is trying to talk a lot (finally!)
  • Her best friend, aside from Joshie, is a little boy at school who is around the same age. they have known each other since she was 6 weeks old, and he was 4 months. I work with his mom, and they are the sweetest family! She gets excited everytime she sees him, and he does too! They run and hug each other the minute they catch a glimpse that the other has arrived at school. TOO CUTE!
  • She's our "climber" and climbs on anything and everything!
  • A real daddy's girl for the most part. Her favorite word is "daddy" and she screams with delight when he gets home

Here are some of the portraits that were taken of her on her 18 month birthday:

Julianna:

  • Looks EXACTLY like Joshie did at 2 months
  • Can hold her head up really well
  • LOVES to smile, especially at Joshua
  • Her favorite toy is her leapfrog bouncer, which she has been known to fall asleep in
  • A great sleeper!! She will sleep from 10pm to 3am on a consistant basis!! I am spoiled to have a baby that is under 8 months sleep for that many hours at one time!
  • She doesn't have reflux!!! HURRAY!
  • Right now she is working on "talking" to people

Hard to believe that pretty soon I will be writing one about Joshie turning 3....

Here's the lates picture of the three kiddos:
