Time Out

Jenna got her first time out the other day. She has always been our strong-willed one. People say that its that "second born" nature.

The Scene:
Joshie was building a block tower out of legos and Jenna decided to kick it over.
The Confrontation:
me: Jenna, go pick up the blocks, please...
Jenna looks at me saying with her expression: "are you kidding me?"
me: Jenna - go pick them up, or you are going to get a spanking.
Jeanna reluctantly picks them up and throws them across the kitchen, looks at me with a look that says it all: "you happy?"
I then proceed to spank her on her diaper
Jenna sits down and cries because now she knows mommy means business. She looks at me though and refuses to pick up the blocks that she threw and just sulks on the floor.
me: ok, time out! Go sit on the chair. You will sit here for one minute because you are one year old. You are in time out because you kicked over the blocks and then threw them.
Here is the classic expression on her face. Can you read her body language?

16-Months

Our little monkey is going to be 16-months old next Wednesday (no April's fool!)...Its hard to believe that she is almost a year and a half old already!!! We nick-named her "experiment 6-2-6" since she likes to "seek and destroy" anything in her path.....Actually she's a very good baby, just VERY dramatic with things. I am excited for her to be a big sister though as she is very nurturing towards little babies. Sometimes though she can be a bit "smothering" towards them in wanting to give them a hug or kiss so bad that she squashes them....LOL....

We had her 15-month check-up today (a little late, I know), but its hard trying to schedule things around 2 kids and having only 3 weeks left until there's one more in the mix. Anyways, Jenna is almost 20 pounds!!! She is in the 5th percentile for weight (not unusual since Joshie is 2 and a half and weighs only 26 pounds), but is in the 50th percentile for her height - she is 31 inches tall! She'll be catching up to Joshie soon!

The biggest milestone for her by far though is the appearance of her first tooth!! Yes, you read right, her FIRST tooth! A little late in getting pearly whites, but they are all coming in at once...There's the front left tooth poking through and she will no longer be a "gummy baby"...LOL....

Here are some recent pictures of our little monkey from this past week :)
Has to have her blankey...just like mommy did

So dramatic!!!

Hmmm....let me think about it.....

Experiment 6-2-6

You might be wondering what "Stitch" from Lilo and Stitch has to do with my blog title...let alone with my blog period.....

Well, we call Jenna "Experiment 6-2-6" from the movie. If you've seen it, you know what I am talking about...Stitch is an alien who is made to destroy things, but then through the kindness of Lilo then returns the love and becomes "tame". The reason we call Jenna "Experiment 6-2-6" is because she can be so funny at times with her "destructive" behavior. Its like she sees something and it must be destroyed! LOL... We had paper shades in our living room. I say had, becasue she tore them down....She climbs over everything, including her brother....and when she eats - we usually have to strip her down becasue she gets food EVERYWHERE! Although quite comical, she definately keeps me on my toes. BEtween her and Joshie, there's never a dull moment in our house!

Here's a little video of her in action - playing with Jason on the floor one day after church....

RSV

So our plans have changed a little for Christmas this year at the last minute. We were going to spend Christmas night with my dad and our family, but today I took Jenna to the doctor and it turns out that we will be pretty much stuck here at home for the next week. She was diagnosed with RSV - a common problem in kids around cold season, but especially dangerous in children under age 2. It has many of the same symptoms as a common cold (which also has a lot of the same symptoms as teething!), but because babies have such small nasal passages it can quickly turn in to pneumonia or something like that.

She is on day two of the virus and it can last anywhere from a week to two. I have been told that days three through five are the worst and so we are going back tomorrow morning to make sure she will be okay through Christmas. I am also going to have Joshie checked out since he is so close to the "cutoff" age.

I did some research on RSV and apparently it is a common condition in which a lot of children get, however it should be taken seriously if your child has a fever, runny nose and wheezing with cough....which of course poor Jenna has all three. So what do we do?? Besides pray, we have to give her breathing treatments every four hours and alternate between Tylenol and Motrin to keep the fever at bay. She is highly contagious, so Christmas will be just us four for this year and with everyone else in January. We also have to keep her room moist with the vapoizer to make her breathe easier. It kinda sounds scary, but I am so glad that God is in control over this whole situation. We should see improvement in her by Friday or Saturday....

We will keep you posted, and that you for praying/reading!

Birthday Fun!

This is Jenna writing this post :) Today we had my birthday party...It was so much fun! There were lots of pink balloons and a lot of my friends came to play with me at my house. Thankfully it was a warmer day too so we all played out in the backyard for a little bit on my slide and chased each other in the grass. Here are some pictures of my friends and I playing together:

After playtime, it was time to open present!! This was the best part becasue I like to rip open the wrapping paper. There were some bags that I could probably fit into! My grandma Debbe sent me my very first dolly and I love her so much! It was fun to crawl around in them. Thankfully i have a big brother and some friends that helped me open my presents. Here's a few pictures of me opening some presents:

And here's a silly video!

Following present time it was time for cake!! YUMMY!!! Everyone sang to me and then I got to eat my first piece of cake. It was so delicious that I ate the whole thing! Good thing mommy and daddy have a Christmas party to go to tonight so I can run my sugar off with Joshie at the babysitters. Here's some silly pictures of me being messy with my first piece of cake:

And of course mommy caught me on camera! Silly momma!!

The funniest thing was Joshie wearing our friend Caleb's cowboy hat and pretending to be a cowboy...He sure was silly!
Thank you for sharing in my birthday celebration. I am sure going to like being one year old! It's been a lot of fun so far - especially playing with my cool big brother. I love him so much!

Is it nap time yet?

The reason for the title of this post is because we have been so busy around here, that I find myself waiting...yearning...pining for......NAP TIME! Yep, seems like there's always something we're doing or working on every second of the day, that the only "down time" is nap time. LOL....

So what have we been up to since the last blog?? Well, Jason and Jenna were sick with the stomach flu two weeks ago and now Joshua is sick with it, so that's taken some time. I guess it's "that time of the year"...Gotta love it. Anyways, thankfully I haven't been sick with it yet.
Other than that, we've been just going through the daily routine and getting ready for Thanksgiving, then Jenna's birthday, then Christmas. Wow - there went 2008....
One of the neat things about having Jessica as my sister is that she is also into photography and trying to start her own business out here. Makes it nice having someone to take the kids' pictures :) Here are a few of Jenna's "One Year Old" shots - these are the unedited versions, so be sure to check back after Thanksgiving for the edited ones....And NO, she was not cooperative!

6 months

I made this little video of Jenna now that its her "half-birthday". It goes along with the music that is already playing, so you don't need to turn the player off at the bottom of the blog. :) Hard to believe the time has gone by so fast! I don't know her measurements yet as we haven't been to the doctor for her check-up yet, but I will post that in another post when we go. She is growing so fast and loves playing with Joshua and her cousin Elisha who is 2 1/2 months older than she is. In two weeks though she won't be the only girl - my little sister, Vanessa, is due to have her baby - Caitlyn Jane - on the 17th of June. That will make the score even with grandkids for my dad and Sherrie - 2 girls and 2 boys. Hope you enjoy the video.

Baby on the move

I don't know if you can tell from the picture above, but that's Jenna - and she's about 3 feet away from where I put her and flipped over, and in the opposite direction! Yeah, like I said she would surprise us all and "just do it". Well, she was playing with the ocean wonders aquarium and when I returned 5 minutes later from the laundry, there she was - trying to crawl around and wondering how in the world she can get back to where she started. Pretty soon she'll be chasing her big brother around and giving him a run for his money!

5 Months

Happy 5 Month Birthday to you!!

Jenna-girl is 5 months old today and she has grown the most this past month so far. She can almost sit-up by herself - she can stay sitting for about 10 seconds; and she grabs at everything! Jenna loves watching her brother play, tries to crawl around, and of course since there is so much to do - hardly ever takes a nap!! Her personality is coming out more as she likes to "talk" to people and cries when she is alone on the floor. Her favorite thing right now is to play with her plastic links and make them make noise. She smiles a lot and is becoming quite ticklish - which of course I have to do often. Her favorite food is pears and prunes (ew) mixed with rice cereal. Here's a few pictures of our little princess:

Jenna-girl

It's friday! Jenna is now 3 1/2 months old, and it seems like yesterday we found out that she was going to be joining our family. About this time last year, we were preparing to fly back home to see our family in Cali. (I miss everyone so much!) Now, we have two kids!

Jenna is growing so fast too. I try my hardest to not compare her milestones to Joshie's. It's tough not to do. Joshie did everything so early, and Jenna does things "on time". To us it seems like she's been itty-bitty for so long now. She is trying her hardest to sit up and grab toys that are in front of her. Grandma Sherrie bought a bumbo seat for all the grandkids and its her turn to use it. I didn't think that she would like it since Joshie absolutely hated that thing. He wanted to be "on the move" all the time. Jenna is perfectly content sitting in that. She doesn't like the laying down position, so this is awesome. I finally have a few minutes to do some things around the house. :)

Today is math olympics at school, so we're off to watch all the mathletes!
